This policy explains how True Blue Fishing Charters (“we”, “us”) handles information when you visit truebluefishingcharter.com. The short version: we are an editorial site funded by advertising, and no analytics, advertising or maps technology runs on this site until you have agreed to it. Until then the only party involved in your visit is us and the host that delivers the page.

Consent to interception and recording of electronic communications

California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA, Cal. Penal Code §§630 et seq.) restricts reading, recording or intercepting a communication in transit without the consent of the parties to it, and separately restricts the use of devices that capture the routing or addressing information of a communication (Cal. Penal Code §638.51). When a website embeds a third party’s technology, that third party can observe your interaction with the site as it happens. We take that seriously and have built the site around it:

• Nothing loads first and asks later. Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Google Maps are not present in the page you first receive. They are added only after you allow the matching category, so no third party can read a visit that you have not agreed to.
• What your consent covers. If you allow a category, you are agreeing that the providers listed for it may receive and record the interactions described — the pages you view, the links and ads you interact with, your IP address, and your device and browser characteristics — for the purposes stated. Advertising partners may combine that with data from other sites to select and measure ads.
• What we never do. We do not use session-replay or screen-recording software, keystroke or form-field capture, live chat, or any tool that records your mouse movements or the contents of a field you did not submit. We do not record telephone calls and we operate no call centre. Nothing on this site listens through a microphone or camera.
• Withdrawal works. Turning a category off stops the processing going forward, clears the identifiers we can reach, and reloads the page so an already-running tag cannot continue. It is not merely a note in a preference file.
• We keep a record. Your choice, and the date you made it, are stored in a first-party cookie on your own device so that both of us know what was agreed. It expires after twelve months and we then ask again.

What is collected, by whom, and why

The table below is the complete list of technologies used on this site, grouped by the consent category that controls them. It is generated from the same configuration that controls what actually loads, so it cannot fall out of date while the site keeps working.

Our page images are generated and served from our own domain, and our fonts are served from our own domain too, so simply reading an article does not announce your visit to anyone else.

How our consent mechanism works

When you first arrive, the page carries no third-party tags and every Google advertising and analytics signal is set to “denied”. A notice asks what you want to allow. If you accept a category, the relevant script is then added to the page and the corresponding signal is switched to “granted”. If you refuse, or simply ignore the notice, nothing is added — ads are replaced by empty reserved space, and destination maps show a button you can press if and when you want that particular map.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a refusal, record it as your choice, and do not show you the notice at all. You can still switch a category on deliberately if you want to.

California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you and to whom it is disclosed, to request deletion or correction of it, to opt out of its sale or of sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of those rights. Nothing on this site is priced or degraded based on your privacy choices.

We do not sell personal information for money. If you allow the advertising category, the resulting disclosure to Google and its advertising partners may amount to “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. Withdrawing that consent — through Your Privacy Choices, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal — is how you opt out, and it takes effect immediately. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, and we do not share the personal information of anyone we know to be a minor for advertising purposes.

To make a request about your information, use our contact page and say what you would like us to do. We may need to ask for enough detail to identify the information in question, and we will respond within the time the law allows. You may authorise an agent to make a request on your behalf.

If you write to us

The contact form sends us the name, email address, subject and message you type. It is processed by our host’s form service so it can reach our editors, is used only to answer you, and is deleted on request. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not sell or share what you send.

Affiliate and outbound links

Some links to charter-booking platforms and gear retailers are affiliate links, marked as sponsored. Following one takes you to that company’s own site, where its privacy notice — not ours — applies, and it may set its own cookies to attribute a booking or purchase. We never see your payment details, and we are not the merchant: this is an editorial site, not a booking platform.

Retention

Your consent record stays on your device for twelve months. Messages you send us are kept while the matter is open and then deleted. Delivery and security logs kept by our host are short-lived. Data held by Google under a category you allowed is retained according to Google’s own published retention periods, which you can control in your Google account.

Changes and contact

If we add a technology or change what an existing one does, this page is updated and — where the change is material — your stored consent is invalidated so you are asked again rather than assumed to agree.
