With clear water, easy access and a genuine year-round season, the Bahamas suit both the dedicated flats angler and the offshore crew.

The Bahamas reward matching your dates to your target. The classic offshore season is winter, November through February, when the famous Bahamas wahoo troll fires along the deep drop-offs near Bimini and the other islands, and the calm, dry weather makes crossings comfortable. Bonefish, by contrast, are a year-round fishery on the flats, though many guides favor the settled conditions of late fall through spring for the best sight-fishing. Mahi-mahi, tuna and blue marlin build through spring and into summer on the offshore grounds. The signature inshore fish is the bonefish, the "grey ghost" of the flats, which the Bahamas produce in extraordinary abundance across Andros, the Abacos, the Exumas and Bimini. Offshore, the headliners are wahoo on the winter troll, abundant mahi-mahi around structure and weed lines, and blue marlin as the water warms into summer. Tuna and the occasional sailfish round out the deep-water mix. Bimini is the spiritual home of Bahamian big-game fishing, and the Bimini Big Game Club is its iconic marina, sitting minutes from both the flats and the deep water of the Gulf Stream edge. Chub Cay Marina, in the Berry Islands, is a legendary offshore base known as a billfish and tuna jumping-off point with quick access to the Tongue of the Ocean. Nassau Harbour on New Providence offers the widest range of operators for visitors flying into the main hub. Most travelers arrive at Lynden Pindling International in Nassau (NAS); North Bimini is reachable by a short flight into South Bimini (BIM) or by fast ferry and small craft from Florida. Pricing splits by fishery. A bonefish flats skiff with a dedicated guide runs roughly $600-$900 for a half day and $800-$1,200 for a full day, usually taking one or two anglers, since flats fishing is intimate work. Offshore trolling on a larger boat runs about $1,200-$1,800 for a full day and carries more anglers, so a full boat splits the cost.
